Luminaire and Etoile du Nord shortlisted for the RIBA Downland Prize 2011

Following BAS Mooarc’s success as alteration/ extension category winner in the RIBA Downland Prize 2010, a further two private residential projects, Luminaire and Etoile Du Nord have been shortlisted for this years RIBA Downland Prize 2011. A final judging meeting will take place in August and the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in London on 15 November.

BAS Mooarc leads first straw bale construction in Guernsey at Les Piques Farm

In response to the sustainability requirements of clients James and Claire Watts of Les Piques Farm, BAS Mooarc Architect Simon Cottell has designed an affordable and eco-friendly straw bale extension to the existing 1970s bungalow. Approximately 150 straw bales, home-grown and harvested by the clients, were used to provide highly insulated load bearing walls. UK based firm Amazonails provided training and on-site technical support to a team of local volunteers and the main structure was successfully completed within one week of being on-site.

BAS Mooarc Exeter relocates to Castle Street Studios

Our Exeter office has recently relocated to the newly renovated premises of Castle Street Studios within the heart of Exeter city centre. BAS Mooarc now shares studio space with a growing network of entrepreneurial, independent and innovative design based companies, which relate to jewellery, clothing, fashion accessories and website design.
